This month I had refractive lens exchange surgery.  My eyesight has always been awful since I can remember.  I have worn glasses since kindergarten and contacts since grade 9.  I had this surgery at 9 in the morning and went back to see my doctor at 4:30pm and I was seeing 20/20 - this has been such an overwhelming experience for me, I have cried and also been so grateful to my amazing doctor.  No more glasses or contact for this gal :) My co-workers are so great, they gave me a great gift basket as I recovered from the surgery. These amazing cookies were in the basket - they were great! Lovely fall flowers :) Since we didn't go on a summer holiday this year we decided to paint out house - we love the colors that we have chosen and the large address numbers.  We also worked with our next door neighbor and built a new fence.  It has been great to pull up to our house every day after work and see the fresh new look. A lovely fall walk with my boys!!! Halloween looked a bit differen

We thought a great way to end summer and start off the school year would be to treat the boys to a nice dinner.   Hudson has been begging us for a long time that he wanted to try lobster and crab.  We went to Red Lobster.  Hudson didn't like the lobster that much but he went crazy over the crab.  He couldn't stop eating it.  It was a great time with the boys. Jackson started high school this year.  He is in grade 9 at Sturgeon.  He will go on Days 1,3,5 b/c of COVID   He is excited to take cooking class this year as well as digital media arts. I had to make sure I got a pic of the two of us.  Jackson wasn't too keen on it but we both started on the same day so I felt it was needed. Oliver and Hudson started grade 7 this year at Ness.  They aren't too happy they don't have the same lunch this year b/c of COVID and being in separate cohorts, but they are making the best of it and a little bit happy they are back in school, I suspect they want to be at home playi

Canoe Lake Trip

Image
As you saw in our August post, John refurbished the yellow canoe. I was his goal for us all to go on a 2 1/2 day portage camping trip.  I was a bit nervous about it, but it was a lovely trip.  We canoed 6.5KM to the point that we needed to carry the canoes, then we got back into the canoes and landed at our island that we camped on.  It was a lot of fun and we made lots of memories.  Enjoy the pics  This was the island we camped on.

John has been working over the past year to refurbish a canoe that has been in his family for a long time.  He worked so hard on it.   Rick helped John as well with some of the wood working details, we were very grateful for his help.   Here are some before and after pictures.   More pictures of before and after. I would never be able to do this, I don't know how he can carry the canoe on his shoulders - he's so strong and dreamy LOL This chair was a favorite this summer.  The boys and John loved maxing and relaxing in it. This year was filled with fun on the water as usual.   We didn't have alot of tube rides for a couple of reasons.  #1 the tube finally broke after 2 years #2 all three boys spent the majority of the summer water skiing.  They loved every minute of water skiing and didn't miss the tube at all.   I will try to post the water skiing videos.

This was a fabulous summer.  We took advantage of relaxing, having fun in the water and just spending quality time with family.  There aren't alot of picture from this summer, we tried to unwind as much as possible but enjoy our summer vacay pics!          Taking Oliver and Hudson out on a date to Boston Pizza. John and I celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary at our favourite Vietnamese Restaurant Viva Oliver being a nerd :)     We headed to Sask for parents 50th Wedding Anniversary!! Happy 50th Mom and Dad - July 17! Val and Darla weren't able to make it b/c of the border being closed.   We missed them but took a good picture to remember the celebrations! Tradition continues of having our friends the Kvist's out to the cottage.  They have been coming since Jackson and Josiah were babies, now 14 years later  - look at the kids now.   We love hanging out with these guys and hope the tradition of them coming out to the cottage will continue for a very long time. Summer Fun Can Begin

Image
We have felt very blessed that so far we have spent most of our weekends at the cottage and July hasn't even started.  We find that the cottage is a place where we unwind, rest, relax and have a bit of crazy!!!   I will continue to add more pictures over the summer.  This past weekend John and Jackson double skied.  It was great!   I am hoping they both will do this again this summer. Hudson has been begging to go for lobster since the beginning of COVID,  but we haven't been able to get out to a restaurant.  He managed to catch come crayfish, grandma and grandpa helped him cook them.  He dipped them in butter and had them on a bun - his version of a lobster roll.  I was at work, so he got to enjoy these.v He phoned me to tell me all about them.  He said they tasted so good.  He said "grandma said these taste like shrimp and lobster"  Guess we will be trying lobster next $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ While I was in Winnipeg at work and John was working at from the cottage, the boy

Father's Day Weekend

Image
We had a great Father's Day weekend at the cottage.  It was filled with lots of projects, great food and fun in the water.  It rained on and off all weekend but that didn't stop the boys from swimming in the pouring rain.  We installed the last of the new patio doors, I made some homemade pies.  All in all a great weekend.  John also made a temperature gauge to see what the temperature is at various water depths, he has been working on this for over a year - it was a success - he was so happy it worked and that he was able to scuba dive to put in all the wires.
